The Mackay pitch seems to be a batter’s nightmare as we saw another day in WBBL with two teams struggling to even get to 100.
Sydney Sixers vs Sydney Thunder
In the game between the two Sydney teams, Thunder beat Sixers by six wickets. The Thunder bowlers limited the Sixers team to 94 runs with skipper Ellyse Perry top-scoring with 40 runs as Issy Wong and Hannah Darlington took two wickets each while veteran Sammy Jo-Johnson took a wicket. Samantha Bates continued her superb season, spending just 15 runs in four overs.
Thunder wrapped up the chase in 15.2 Overs losing just four wickets. Smriti Mandhana played a solid hand in the start, making 45 runs in 39 balls. Meanwhile, Corrine Hall made 19 runs. Lauren Cheatle turned out to be impressive for the Sixers claiming three wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Stella Campbell took the other wicket.
Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat
Adelaide continued their impressive run with a win against the Heat. The team’s bowling limited Brisbane to 94 runs and it could have been worse if not for an 11-ball 22 runs burst by Laura Kimmince. Spinner Amanda Jade-Wellington took two wickets while Darcie Brown, Megan Schutt, Jemma Barsby, and Dane van Niekerk took a wicket each.
Strikers lost their two most in-form players in Laura Woolvardt and Dane for just 10 runs. However, it didn’t faze another in-form batter Katie Mack who turned up with 54 runs while Tahlia McGrath played another important inning, making 31 runs to chase down a small total. Courtney Grace Sippel took both the wickets for Brisbane.
