Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has expressed his belief that a boxing match against Francis Ngannou is still a possibility.
Deontay Wilder for Boxing Scene
Me and Francis, that fight, it still comes up. It came up two more times not too long ago. We’re just trying to figure out how we want the segment to go with me and Ngannou. I’m definitely interested, he is as well. I guess it’s just a matter of… a time. It’s looking to be done, but it’s just all of the details and stuff like that. I’m looking forward to that one, so stay tuned.
As a reminder, on June 28, Wilder will face fellow American Tyrrell Herndon in Wichita, USA.
Wilder last stepped into the ring in June 2024, where he lost to Zhilei Zhang by knockout in the fifth round. His record boasts 43 wins (42 by knockout), four losses, and one draw. Ngannou's last fight was against Renan Ferreira in October 2024 at the PFL Super Fights – Battle of the Giants, where he won by knockout in the first round. His overall record includes 18 wins and three losses.
