Malik Scott, coach of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, spoke about the start of negotiations to arrange a fight with former UFC heavyweight division champion Francis Ngannou.
In an interview with YouTube channel Fighthype, Scott said:
We’re already in communications about it. He’s an option now, and we’re going to see where things go. I talked to Deontay about it. I believe he’s right there to be hit by Deontay. He’s mature and poised, and for a guy with no professional fights as a boxer, he’s still big and strong.
Recall, Ngannou made his debut in the boxing ring with a fight against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight, which went all ten rounds, ended in a split decision victory for Fury.
Wilder last entered the ring in October 2022, defeating Robert Helenius by knockout in the first round. He has 43 wins (42 by knockout), one draw and two losses.
