The World Boxing Council (WBC) has sanctioned a bout between the organization's lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson and William Zepeda. This was announced on social media by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
Stevenson last fought against Artem Harutyunyan in July of this year. Shakur won that fight, which lasted the entire distance, by unanimous decision. He has 22 wins (10 by knockout) without a single loss.
Zepeda last stepped into the ring against Giovanni Cabrera in June of this year. That fight ended in favor of William by knockout in the third round. He has 31 wins (27 by knockout) and no defeats on his record.
