The World Boxing Council (WBC) held an awards ceremony in Tashkent, where Mexican Saul Alvarez, undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division, was recognized as the best boxer of the year.
Former undisputed world champion in the junior welterweight division Kostya Tszyu, WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former undisputed world champion Evander Holyfield also received awards.
In his last fight in October 2023, Alvarez defeated Jermell Charlo by unanimous decision of the judges and defended the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring super middleweight titles. In May 2023, Canelo defeated John Ryder by unanimous decision of the judges. Alvarez, 33, has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two draws and two losses.
