Undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk has joined the cast of the movie Smashing Machine. This was reported by the talkSPORT website.
Usyk will play the role of Ukrainian mixed martial artist Igor Vovchanchyn. The main role in the film will be played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He will play former UFC fighter Mark Kerr. Moreover, Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader will also appear in the film.
Vovchanchyn and Kerr fought in 1999 at the PRIDE 7 tournament. Initially, Igor won the fight, but later the match was declared a no contest as the judges acknowledged that the Ukrainian fighter had used illegal knee strikes.
Usyk's last fight was against Tyson Fury on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Oleksander won that fight by split decision, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion. He holds a record of 22 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
