WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk expressed his fears that the fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury may not take place.
Recall, it was originally planned that the fight between Usyk and Fury will be held on December 23, but later it became known that the meeting of boxers was postponed to the beginning of 2024.
Usyk is quoted by AP News as saying:
I'm not 100% sure. I will be sure when I'm the ring. I will stand in one corner, Tyson Fury will stand in the opposite corner, between us a referee in a white shirt, and only when I hear the sound of a bell - that's when I'll understand that yes, the game is on.
On October 28, Fury fought against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, winning by split decision. He has 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw and no losses.
Usyk last entered the ring in August 2023, defeating Daniel Dubois by knockout in the ninth round. He has 21 wins (14 by knockout) without a single defeat.
