Renowned journalist Kevin Iole reported on his blog that the tournament headlined by the fight between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov ended up being a financial disaster.
According to Iole, the event's organizers suffered losses exceeding $10 million due to low sales of pay-per-view broadcasts and tickets. He further clarified that there was virtually no demand, even for the tickets that were given away for free.
It's worth mentioning that on that evening, Crawford won against Madrimov by unanimous decision from the judges.
Crawford last stepped into the ring in July 2023, defeating Errol Spence via technical knockout in the ninth round. He holds a record of 41 wins (31 by knockout) with no losses.
Madrimov previously fought in March 2024, securing a technical knockout victory against Magomed Kurbanov in the fifth round. His record stands at ten wins (seven by knockout), one loss, and one draw.
