A fight for the vacant WBC Silver champion title in the junior welterweight division between British Dalton Smith and Jose Zepeda took place at a boxing night in Sheffield.
The fight, which was stopped in the first round, ended in Smith's favor with a knockout. Thus, he won the WBC Silver belt. Smith now has 16 wins (12 by knockout) and no losses. Zepeda has 37 wins (28 by knockout) and five losses to his name.
Also, on the same boxing night, WBO world champion in the junior welterweight division Sandy Ryan stepped into the ring with Terri Harper. Ryan won the fight early due to the corner stopping the fight after the fourth round.
