Bob Arum, the head of Top Rank and promoter of world champion in three weight categories Shakur Stevenson, said that the American will return to the ring in the summer.
After Shakur's fight against De Los Santos, Arum said:
Shakur's gonna fight in June and we've gotta figure out an opponent for him. I think that Shakur had to fight the fight he did because I think he had some injuries, that kinda thing. I mean, I know we had him visiting doctors in the weeks before the fight for various ailments. So, I think he therefore fought a very cautious fight. But it was a stinker.
Stevenson, 26, last fought Edwin De Los Santos in November 2023. In that fight, Shakur won by unanimous decision and won the WBC lightweight title. He has 21 wins (ten by knockout) and no losses.
