Gustavo Olivieri, President of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), has responded to the announcement of the rematch between WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and IBF champion Daniel Dubois.
Usyk and Dubois are set to face off in their second bout on July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Having carefully considered the arguments presented by all relevant parties regarding the WBO mandatory, it is the WBO’s position that the best interests of boxing and, most importantly, the fighters themselves are best served by allowing the unification bout to proceed prior to discharging the mandatory obligation. Joseph Parker’s mandatory status is upheld, and he remains next in the rotation system following the unification.
In their first encounter in August 2023, Usyk defeated Dubois by knockout in the ninth round.
Usyk last stepped into the ring in December 2024, winning against Tyson Fury by unanimous decision. He has a record of 23 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
Daniel Dubois fought last in October 2024, where he knocked out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round. His record includes 22 wins (21 by knockout) and two losses
