ONE Championship League CEO Chatri Sityodtong said that the promotion, on its own initiative, terminated negotiations with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
Chatri Sityodtong for South China Morning Post
I met with Francis yesterday for almost 3 hours. ONE has decided to withdraw from the process of bidding for Francis Ngannou’s services. After careful reflection, we decided not to submit our final offer. Francis is a good guy and a good champion. I wish him continued success and happiness.
Recall that in January 2023, Ngannou decided not to renew his contract with the UFC and left the promotion because the terms of his new contract did not satisfy him. At the moment, Francis is a free agent. Besides MMA fights, the Cameroonian intends to make his professional boxing debut and is considering fights against Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.
Ngannou has 17 wins and three losses in MMA.
