Despite winning the gold medal, that one event felt like a whole lifetime. I was able to overcome it all thanks to my faith in God, in myself, and my dream. Without such challenges, I would never have become a champion.

Recently, French journalist Djaffar Ait Aoudia published a medical report stating that Khelif has XY chromosomes, lacks a uterus, and instead has internal testicles and a "micro penis" resembling an enlarged clitoris.

To recap, Khelif became an Olympic champion in the 66 kg weight category, winning the final against China's Yang Liu by unanimous decision.

In the round of 16, the 25-year-old Khelif won against Italy's Angela Carini, who withdrew from the fight just 46 seconds into the first round. In the quarter-finals, the Algerian boxer defeated Hungary's Luca Anna Hamori, and in the semi-finals, she triumphed over Thailand's Janjaem Suwannapheng.
