Former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL fighter Francis Ngannou has revealed his intention to face former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder in his next boxing match.
Francis Ngannou in an interview with SportsbookReview
I will do boxing next. I’m not done with boxing. It’s not the MMA is easy. It’s the sport that I understand better and I have more experience in, but I say go for boxing. Deontay Wilder is known as a guy that knocks everybody out or tries to knock you out. There’s an 80% chance that somebody will go to sleep. It will be one or the other. My next fight will be in professional boxing. I'm not done with boxing. It's not MMA; it's easier. This is a sport that I understand better and where I have more experience than people realize.
Ngannou has stepped into the boxing ring twice. In October 2023, he lost a split decision to Tyson Fury, and in March 2024, he was knocked out by Anthony Joshua in the second round.
Wilder last fought against Zhilei Zhang in June 2024, where he suffered a knockout loss in the fifth round. His record includes 43 wins (42 by knockout), four losses, and one draw.
