The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) has suspended WBO and WBC light middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora until September 27 for medical reasons following his fight with Tim Tszyu. It is noted that Fundora sustained a broken nose in the first round.
Earlier, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) informed Fundora's team that they need to negotiate a fight against Terence Crawford by April 25. The bout must take place within 180 days from the date of Fundora's fight with Tszyu.
WBO representative
When a WBO champion suffers an injury, the Championship Committee issues a letter titled 'Interim Medical Certification' whereby the fighter through his representative(s) is required to submit in writing to the WBO a detailed medical report of his injury and his physician’s findings and prognosis, including his recovery time period. Upon receipt of such evidence, the Committee shall determine the next course of action per our governing regulations.
Fundora defeated Tszyu by split decision on March 31 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He has 21 wins (13 by knockout), one loss and one draw.
