Lomachenko Makes A Statement After Winning IBF Lightweight Belt

Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko commented on his victory over Australian George Kambosos in a fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title.

The bout, held on 12 May in Perth (Australia), ended with Lomachenko winning by technical knockout in the 11th round.

In the post-match interview Lomachenko said:

Today I am again world champion and this world title is for my father... I want to say a big thank you and appreciate to him. He built me, he trained me... this is for my father.

The 30-year-old Kambosos previously stepped into the ring in July 2023, defeating Maxi Hughes by majority decision. He has 21 wins (ten by knockout) and three losses to his name.

The 35-year-old Lomachenko had his previous fight in May 2023, losing to Devin Haney by unanimous decision. He has 18 wins (12 by knockout) and three losses.
