Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has declined an immediate rematch against Daniel Dubois, which was scheduled for February 22. This was confirmed by Dubois' promoter, Frank Warren, during an interview with Eurosport.
Frank Warren
I don't see that [the rematch] happening next. I'm hearing that he [Joshua] is injured. Whatever it is, if things are going to happen they happen and it has taken a while so you've got to feel it won't happen. But we have got to make some decisions and with the greatest respect to everyone we are in the Daniel Dubois business. I want him out on that date and he wants to be out [February 22].
Dubois and Joshua faced each other for the first time in October of this year in London. In that match, which was stopped in the fifth round, Daniel secured a victory by technical knockout.
Dubois holds a professional boxing record of 22 wins (21 by knockout) and 2 losses, while Joshua has 28 wins (25 by knockout) and 4 losses to his name.
