The World Boxing Council (WBC) has granted American boxer Devin Haney's request to be relegated to "champion in recess" status and scheduled a title fight between interim champion Alberto Puello, now made a champion, and Sandor Martin.
The WBC has already invited representatives of Puello and Martin to begin negotiations for the title defense, which is scheduled to take place in the next four months.
Haney last fought against Ryan Garcia in April of this year in Brooklyn. Devin was originally defeated by a majority decision of the judges in that fight, which went the full distance. But then Ryan was disqualified and the result of the fight was canceled. Haney has 31 wins (15 by knockout) and no losses.
