Kazakhstani middleweight boxer Gennady Golovkin has vacated his title of IBF world champion.
According to BoxingScene, Golovkin made that decision four months after he was asked to defend his title against Brazilian Esquiva Falcão.
In his last fight, which took place in September 2022, Golovkin faced Saul Alvarez. This confrontation went the whole distance and ended with Canelo's victory by unanimous decision of the judges. Last April, Gennady defeated Ryota Murata by TKO in the ninth round. Golovkin, 40, has 42 wins (37 by KO) and two losses.
