American boxer Ryan Garcia has turned down an interim fight against Mercito Gesta and said he will wait for a fight with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, scheduled for the spring of 2023.

Boxing fans have seen enough of these interim fights already. It's time to give them what they want. Besides, Davis is the one who wanted the interim fight, not me, so let him mind his own business.
Garcia had his last fight against Dominican Javier Fortuna in July of this year. Ryan won that fight by TKO in the sixth round. He had 22 wins (18 by KO) and no losses.
Davis had his last fight against Rolando Romero in May of this year. That fight ended in Jervonta's favor by knockout in the sixth round. He had 27 wins (25 by knockout) without a single loss.
