Former WBC lightweight world champion Ryan Garcia has stated that he would have been able to defeat Floyd Mayweather, a five-weight world champion.
In his interview with Fight Hub TV, Garcia said:
In his prime, I honestly believe I could knock out Floyd Mayweather. You asked me who I could knock out, and I gave you the answer. If you don’t like the answer. I’m doing 98% of this, 99%.
Garcia will face WBC first welterweight champion Devin Haney on April 20th. He currently holds 24 victories (20 by knockout) and one defeat.
The 46-year-old Mayweather’s last professional fight was against former UFC champion in two divisions Conor McGregor in August 2017, where he achieved a technical knockout victory in the tenth round. He holds a record of 50 wins (27 by knockout) without a single loss.
