Frank Warren, head of Queensberry Promotions and co-promoter of Tyson Fury, revealed what the Briton said about his reaction to his defeat to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
On May 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Usyk defeated Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion.
Frank Warren
He was very philosophical about it and he just wants the rematch. He said in the ring he wanted the rematch; he said in the dressing room he wanted the rematch, and he said to me a couple of days ago when he got home and we were talking that he wanted the rematch. Very philosophical – disappointed obviously – but philosophical. He felt he won it. But it was a close fight.
Fury, 35, previously stepped into the ring in October 2023, beating Francis Ngannou by split decision. He has 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw and one loss.
Usyk, 37, had his previous fight in August 2023, defeating Daniel Dubois by knockout in the ninth round. He has 22 wins (14 by knockout) without a single defeat on his record.
