WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury commented on the disruption of the fight against WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world champion Oleksandr Usik.
Earlier Fury received a cut in training, and he had to withdraw from the fight against Usyk, which was scheduled to take place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.
Famous journalist Michael Benson quotes Fury as saying:
I am absolutely devastated after preparing for this fight for so long and being in such a superb condition. I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed. I can only apologize to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Fury last fought against Francis Ngannou in October 2023. Tyson won that fight by split decision of the judges. He has 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw and no losses.
Usyk was last in the ring against Daniel Dubois in August 2023. Oleksandr won that fight by knockout in the ninth round. He has 21 wins (14 by knockout) without a single defeat.
