Sebastian Fundora, holder of the WBO and WBC titles in the junior middleweight division, will possibly fight Errol Spence Jr. next, according to ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger.
Previously, it was reported that interim WBA champion Terence Crawford pulled out of a matchup with Fundora, allowing him to conduct a voluntary title defense.
Coppinger stated that the teams of both boxers have reached an agreement for a fight to take place early next year in Texas. However, Fundora’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, mentioned in an interview with BoxingScene that negotiations with Spence's camp have yet to begin, though he is willing to discuss the potential fight.
Fundora last entered the ring in March 2024, where he secured a split-decision victory over Tim Tszyu. His professional record has 21 wins (13 by knockout), one loss, and one draw.
Spence last fought in July 2023, suffering a technical knockout loss to Terence Crawford in the ninth round. His record stands at 28 wins (22 by knockout) and one loss.
