Former welterweight world champion Paulie Malignaggi has spoken out about a possible fight between WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez and the division's undisputed world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
Malignaggi said on Deep Waters:
I don't think [Canelo's] going to fight [Benavidez]. That's an outright duck. It's not that important for me to watch Canelo get beaten like a rag doll. I think he gets hammered. [Benavidez] runs him over like a train.
Alvarez last fought against Jermell Charlo in September 2023. In that fight, Saul won by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws on his record.
Benavidez last entered the ring against Demetrius Andrade in November 2023. This fight David won by technical knockout after his opponent refused to continue the fight. Benavidez has 28 wins (24 by knockout) and no losses.
