Robert W. Smith, the General Secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC), announced that Chris Eubank Jr. will be disciplined for cracking an egg on Conor Benn's face during a press staredown.
Robert W. Smith for The Ring
We're obviously disappointed he did such a silly thing. He struck Conor which was inappropriate, it was irresponsible. We'll deal with that at a hearing when we call for a hearing. We'll get one in as soon as we can possibly get it on. I can't speculate [on punishment]. There's lots of things they can do, they can withdraw licenses, they can fine, they can suspend, they can put conditions on licences.
Recall that Eubank and Benn are scheduled to fight on April 26 in London.
Eubank's last appearance in the ring was in October 2024, where he knocked out Kamil Szeremeta in the seventh round, winning the IBO middleweight title. He boasts a record of 34 wins (25 by knockout) and 3 losses.
Benn's most recent fight was in February 2024, where he won against Peter Dobson by unanimous decision. He has a flawless record of 23 wins (14 by knockout) and no losses.
