British boxer Daniel Dubois spoke out regarding his defeat to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in the main event of the boxing night in Poland.
Usyk won that fight by technical knockout in the ninth round. In the fifth round, the Briton dealt the Ukrainian a body blow, which was counted as an illegal low blow. The referees gave Oleksandr time to recover, after which the fight continued.
I don't think it was a low blow! I was cheated out of my victory!
Later, Frank Warren, the promoter of Daniel Dubois, said he would appeal the result of his client’s fight.
Usyk, 36, previously stepped into the ring in August 2022, defeating Anthony Joshua by split decision of the judges. He has 21 wins (14 by knockout) without a single loss.
Dubois, 25, had his previous fight against Kevin Lerena in December 2022. This fight, which was stopped in the third round, ended in favor of Daniel by technical knockout. He has 19 wins (17 by knockout) and two losses on his record.
