Famous promoter Oscar De La Hoya, representing interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr., is considering the possibility of arranging a fight between his client and former welterweight champion Errol Spence.
Oscar De La Hoya for FightHype
There’s a lot of options out there for Vergil. I’m excited. Imagine if we can put together a Vergil-Spence fight at Dallas Stadium at the Cowboys Stadium. That would sell out the place. I think that’s something to consider as well.
Vergil Ortiz Jr. last fought against Israil Madrimov in February 2025. Vergil won that match by unanimous decision. His record includes 23 wins (21 by knockout) and no losses.
Spence's last appearance in the ring was against Terence Crawford in July 2023. That match, which was stopped in the ninth round, ended in a technical knockout loss for Errol. He holds a record of 28 wins (22 by knockout) and one loss.
