The World Boxing Association (WBA) has decided not to strip American boxer Terence Crawford of the world champion title in the welterweight division.
On August 3 in Los Angeles (USA), Crawford will fight Uzbekistan representative Israil Madrimov for the WBA super welterweight title.
According to the WBA ruling, Crawford will have five days after the bout with Madrimov to decide on his weight category.
The 36-year-old Crawford's last fight was against Errol Spence in July 2023, which he won by technical knockout in the ninth round. He boasts a record of 40 wins (31 by knockout) with no losses.
Madrimov, 29, last stepped into the ring in March 2024, defeating Magomed Kurbanov by technical knockout in the fifth round. He has ten wins (seven by knockout), one draw, and no losses to his name.
