Terence Crawford, WBA champion in the light middleweight division and holder of the interim WBO title, has shared his thoughts on a potential matchup against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, the unified champion in the super middleweight division holding the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles.
We all know Canelo is great. He is big. He is strong. He has good timing. He has good punching power. But we've never seen Terence Crawford at 168. We don't know if Terence Crawford can take his punching power. We don't know if Canelo can box toe to toe with me. We think Canelo is going to walk me down because he's been in the weight class longer than me. But in reality, we don't know.
Alvarez is set to fight William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In September 2024, Saul secured a unanimous decision victory against Edgar Berlanga, defending his WBA, WBC, and WBO titles in the super middleweight division. His record includes 62 wins (39 by knockout), two losses, and two draws.
Crawford last fought against Israil Madrimov in August 2024, winning by unanimous decision and claiming the WBA world championship title and interim WBO belt in the light middleweight division. He boasts an impressive record of 41 wins (31 by knockout) and no losses.
