Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier has assessed Francis Ngannou's chances in a boxing match with Anthony Joshua, which will take place on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.
Daniel Cormier
He was an amateur when he fought Tyson Fury. Now he’s shared the ring with the lineal heavyweight champion of the world, knocked him down and fought a very competitive fight. For him to win, he’s got to do what he did last time, but he’s got to be a little more ferocious in his approach. I believe if he approaches this fight with bad intent and he’s a little bit reckless, he will make Joshua fight in such a way that it will limit all of these skills that he’s built over a lifetime.
Ngannou made his professional ring debut in October 2023. He had a bout against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. In that fight, Francis was defeated by a split decision of the judges.
Joshua last stepped into the ring against Otto Wallin in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia. That fight, which was stopped in the fifth round, ended in favor of Anthony by technical knockout. He has 27 wins (24 by knockout) and three losses on his record.
