Boxer Elbi Bilindo of the Democratic Republic of Congo died in a car accident. This was reported by the British news agency Express.
The tragedy happened on December 19. The 27-year-old boxer was jogging along the road in preparation for the fight that was to take place today, December 22. As reported by African media, the driver who hit the athlete was drunk.
It's worth mentioning that Bilindo was the World Boxing Organization (UBO) Central African Champion and All-African Champion.
Bilindo had his last fight against Rodricke Ibaibe in May of this year. This fight lasted the whole distance and ended in favor of Elbi by unanimous decision of the judges.
Bilindo came to the ring in April of this year against Louvouezo Eli Jehovah. Elbi won that fight by TKO. He has 11 wins (three by knockout) and three losses under his belt.
