Super middleweight undisputed world champion Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez reacted to calls for a fight with American David Benavidez.
The Los Angeles Times quotes Alvarez as saying:
I'm in the position that I have earned through the fights, through effort. If you look at my career, I have fought with many halls of fame, with many undefeated, with champions. I deserve and I can do whatever I want to do. I'm not going to go out of my way to do anything for anyone. People like that are never satisfied with anything. I'm going to do whatever I want to do.
Alvarez last fought against Jermell Charlo in September 2023. Saul won that fight by unanimous decision. He has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws.
Benavidez last stepped into the ring against Demetrius Andrade in November 2023. In that fight, David won by technical knockout as a result of his opponent's refusal to continue the fight. Benavidez has 28 wins (24 by knockout) and no losses.
