Undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division Saul Alvarez and his former promoter Oscar De La Hoya almost came to blows at a press conference dedicated to the fight between Canelo and Jaime Munguia, scheduled for May 5th in Las Vegas.
It all started when De La Hoya accused Canelo of failing a doping test before the second fight with Gennady Golovkin. Alvarez did not hold back, accusing the promoter of stealing money from boxers and attempting to deceive Golovkin. Oscar tried to justify himself, but Canelo would not stop. The argument escalated to the point where Alvarez and De La Hoya almost came to blows.
Alvarez last fought against Jermell Charlo in September 2023 in Las Vegas. In that fight, Saul won by unanimous decision. He has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws.
Munguia last entered the ring against John Ryder in January of this year in Phoenix. That fight, which was stopped in the ninth round, ended in Jaime's favor by technical knockout. He has 43 wins (34 by knockout) and no defeats on his record.
