Gennady Mashianov, the trainer of the unified world champion in the light heavyweight division Dmitry Bivol, announced their intention to complete the trilogy with Arthur Beterbiev.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) had previously mandated that Bivol must fight David Benavidez.

The fight with Benavidez is not relevant to us. We need to honor Arthur and give him the trilogy. We simply can’t decline the trilogy, because of human decency.
Recall that on the night of February 23, Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev held a rematch that ended with Bivol winning by majority decision.
In October 2024, Beterbiev defeated Bivol by majority decision. Beterbiev has 21 wins (20 by knockout) and 1 loss, while Bivol holds 24 wins (12 by knockout) and 1 loss.
