Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), has announced that Dmitry Bivol, the undisputed world champion in the light heavyweight division, can earn eight million dollars for a fight against David Benavidez.
Previously, the WBC mandated that Bivol defend his title against Benavidez, while the Russian boxer's team is pushing for a trilogy with Artur Beterbiev.

Bivol made 2.7 million in the rematch against Beterbiev. And now, he’s being offered 8 million to fight Benavidez. So it’s a great opportunity for Bivol as well. I hope Bivol and Benavidez will fight.
It’s worth noting that in February 2025, Bivol faced Artur Beterbiev in a rematch, winning by majority decision. His professional record stands at 24 wins (12 by knockout) and one loss.
David Benavidez last fought in February 2025, where he won against David Morrell by unanimous decision. He holds a record of 30 wins (24 by knockout) and remains undefeated.
