Beterbiev Clarifies His Refusal to Shake Hands Before a Fight

WBC and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev from Russia addressed why he chooses not to shake hands with his opponents before a match.

Artur Beterbiev for Bad Left Hook
It’s very simple, you know. Like, for example, we have fight tomorrow night, you want to beat me. You want to punch me hard as you can. Why I give a shake?

On February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Beterbiev will have a rematch with Dmitry Bivol. Their first encounter in October 2024 ended with Beterbiev winning by majority decision. Beterbiev has a record of 21 wins (20 by knockout) with no losses, while Bivol holds 23 wins (12 by knockout) and one defeat.
