Puerto Rican boxer Edgar Berlanga has commented on his loss to Mexican fighter Saul Alvarez at the boxing event held on September 15 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
Berlanga lost to Canelo by unanimous decision (117-110, 118-109 twice) in a fight for the WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles.
Berlanga told CBS Sports:
I fought my idol (Canelo) I never told anyone. I'm a winner. 50 of me I'm down, the other 50 telling me I shocked the world.
Before this match, Berlanga had last fought in February 2024, winning by knockout in the sixth round against Padraig McCrory. His record stands at 22 wins (17 by knockout) and 1 loss.
Alvarez, on the other hand, fought last in May 2024, where he secured a unanimous decision victory against Jaime Munguia. His record includes 62 wins (39 by knockout), 2 losses, and 2 draws.
