Listen I’m not saying it wasn’t a close fight, it was, but I think I’m gonna give it to Roach. I’d have to look at it again to be completely transparent, but I got to give it to Roach. Davis took a knee. He got hit with a jab before that, that constitutes technically as a knock down. The referee blew it. The referee blew that. He blew that. That’s a 10-8 round and he should be the champion right now.
Recall that the boxing match ended in a draw by the majority of judges (115-113 for Davis and 114-114 twice). In the ninth round, Davis went down to one knee, then returned to his corner and asked for a towel. Referee Steve Willis began the knockdown count, but then stopped it after Gervonta said something to him. Many athletes and experts believe that the referee made a mistake by not counting the knockdown, which cost Roach the victory.
