Adesanya Apologizes to Boxer Who Failed Gender Test at 2023 World Cup

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has apologized to Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who failed the gender test for the 2023 World Championships.

I don't like to get triggered and when something triggers me, I'm a fighter, I saw the news or articles and I was like, 'Why they letting a trans person [fight women]' and then I find out later she wasn't actually a trans [person]. So to the lady, my bad. I got that wrong.

Adesanya hasn't stepped into the octagon since September 2023, when he lost to Sean Strickland by unanimous decision at UFC 293. He has 24 wins and three losses on his record.
