The USA volleyball team beat Brazil in the women’s gold medal match 3-0. This marked the first time that the women’s team has won an Olympic gold in volleyball. Meanwhile the Serbians grabbed the bronze medal, triumphing over South Korea 3-0.
After grabbing the first set, the USA women faced the Brizalian flurry as they got up 3-1 in the second set courtesy of some outside shots. However, the USA came back and claimed the set, when again, Brazil opened the third set 6-4, but the USA women showed their determination and put them away thanks to a 5-1 run.
