The first Chinese UFC champion Zhang Weili will make her first title defense since regaining the UFC Women’s Strawweight title against number five ranked Amanda Lemos of Brazil. Zhang Weili
The 34-year-old from Hebei became the first UFC champion from China when she defeated Jessica Andrade in August 2019 via a first-round TKO to win the Strawweight championship. Now number three in the UFC Women’s pound-for-pound rankings, Zhang started training in Kung-fu at a very early age, then later got training in Sanda and Shuai Jiao at a martial arts special school her parents sent her to. Zhang Weili lost the Strawweight championship in 2021 to Rose Namajunas via knockout. Zhang also lost the rematch against Namajunas but regained the title last year after submitting Carla Esparza at UFC 281. Now 7-2 in the UFC, Zhang was named the 2022 ESPN female fighter of the Year.

Amanda Lemos
Following an undefeated record in the Brazilian regional scene, Amanda Lemos was drafted as a late replacement in her UFC debut against Leslie Smith in July 2017. She lost the fight at Bantamweight but rebounded by dropping to Strawweight to win five consecutive matches. Her run was stopped by former Strawweight champion and compatriot Jessica Andrade, who choked her out in April 2022. A knockout specialist, Amanda Lemos has the most knockdowns landed in UFC Women’s Strawweight division and is tied with Andrade for the most knockouts in UFC Women’s Strawweight division. She has eight knockouts from her thirteen wins.
