Former Bellator Interim World Heavyweight champion Valentin Moldavsky of Russia will clash with American Steve Mowry in a rematch of their botched fight last year. The pair previously met at Bellator 284, but the fight lasted a few moments as an accidental eye poke by Moldavsky led to a No Contest. Moldavsky vs Mowry II will take place in the co-main event of Bellator 298 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Russian heavyweight has had a busy last 18 months. The 2018 European Sambo champion in 100kg lost a controversial decision to Ryan Bader in January 2022 in a contest to unify the heavyweight titles. Moldavsky had earlier defeated Timothy Johnson to win the Bellator Interim Heavyweight world title. Last August, an eye poke in the first round of their contest drew the No Contest. Earlier this year, at Bellator 292, the 31-year-old Moldavsky was dropped by Linton Vassel in the first round of their rematch. The Fedor Emelianenko trainee is ranked number two in the Bellator Heavyweight rankings.
