Usman Nurmagomedov
Following in the footsteps of his brother and cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov used his varied martial arts skills to join professional mixed martial arts. He competed in many Russian organizations before being snapped up by Bellator MMA. The Russian made his company debut in April 2021, and just over eighteen months later, he dominated Patricky Pitbull to become the Bellator Lightweight World champion at Bellator 288 last November. The 25-year-old defended his title in the quarter-final of the $1 Million Grand Prix with an easy submission of former WEC and UFC Lightweight champion Benson Henderson.

Brent Primus
Veteran Brent Primus has another golden opportunity to win the Lightweight crown for the second time. The former Bellator Lightweight champion engineered one of the biggest upsets in Bellator history when he stopped Michael Chandler in the first round of the championship to win the title in 2017. Born in Eugene, Oregon, the American had a roller-coaster youth, including weed and gangsters, fighting, and prison time. The black belt in Jiu-jitsu is number four in the Lightweight rankings and was drafted as a replacement in the Grand Prix quarter-final. A subsequent win over Mansour Barnaoui has thrust him into a championship shot.
