This weekend, UFC will hold the first-ever PPV event of 2022. The headlining of the event will be a heavyweight title fight between current king Francis Ngannou and the interim champion of the division, Ciryl Gane.
Francis Ngannou is the newly crowned champion. He just dethroned one of the best heavyweights in the history of the UFC, Stipe Miocic, and avenged for his first-ever loss in the title fight. Francis was training in “MMA Factory” in France, with Ciryl Gane under Fernand Lopez's coach. However, after suffering two losses in a row against Miocic and Lewis, he knew that he needed to change something. For this moment, he is on 5 winning streaks, and most of these victories he earned in a very first round. He also showed lots of improvement of and takedown defense and fighting IQ against Stipe Miocic in their rematch.
Ciryl Gane is one of the most talented heavyweights in the history of the UFC. He is undefeated in MMA and has already earned 7 victories in the UFC. In 2021, he defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov unanimously and Derrick Lewis via TKO in the 3rd round. He is a really cautious fighter, and that’s why he has some decision victories under 5 rounder battles. He has great submission and standing skills.
Francis Ngannou is a slight underdog with the odds around 2.25, but Ngannou will defend his belt from my perspective. Ngannou is a fighter-like warrior, while Gane is a professional athlete. Ngannou has the killer instinct in the DNA, and that’s the reason why he defeated Rozenstruik in 20 seconds and why Gane did it in under 25 minutes. NGannou finished the era of Junior Dos Santos in 1 minute, while it took 8 minutes for Gane to serve 7th KO. Of course, Gane is dangerous. He defeated Volkov in a very dominant way and KO Lewis, but I believe that Ngannou is ready to silent the UFC and all the Critics.
