Two welterweights whose record has been blighted by losses to current UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, clash in the main event of UFC London when former champion Leon Edwards takes on number five contender Sean Brady at the O2 Arena in London this weekend. Jamaican-born Englishman Leon Edwards, who lost the 170-pound title to Belal Muhammad last July, was initially billed to fight number four ranked Jack Della Maddalena before he was moved to UFC 315 to contest the title against Muhammad. In his only professional defeat, American Sean Brady lost to Belal Muhammad in 2022. Brady is the favorite of the bookmakers in what promises to be an all-action packed finale to UFC Fight Night 255.

Leon Edwards
Leon Edwards became the first Jamaican-born UFC champion when he defeated Kamaru Usman with a head kick to win the welterweight crown in 2022. He made two successful title defenses, against Usman and Colby Covington in late 2023, before falling to Belal Muhammad last July. Faced with the superior grappling skills of the Russian, "Rocky" lost the title via unanimous decision. Leon Edwards is a prodigious striker and is notable for his knockout of Kamaru Usman, which earned him a performance of the Night and was voted knockout of the year.
The first thing they said to me, they’re coming back to the U.K. in March, I was like ‘what time? What time are we fighting first?’ They’re like “normal time”, I’m like ‘okay, perfect, let’s do it!” You know? That 4 A.M., 5 A.M. walkout was madness, you know? And I tried my best to get into it, but, I just couldn’t. For some reason, my body, for the last however long I’ve been training and doing mixed martial arts, I’ve been fighting at a similar time, so yeah. It is what it is.

Sean Brady
A former Cage Fury FC welterweight champion, Sean Brady's only professional defeat was a 2022 second-round TKO loss to Belal Muhammad. The American fighter, rebounded with wins over Kevin Gastelum and Gilbert Burns, submitting Gastelum in 2023 before scoring a unanimous decision over Burns last September. The Semper Fi MMA team member has a black belt in BJJ and competes in professional grappling events. Joining the UFC in late 2019, Brady has progressed up the rankings in the 170-pound class, and except for the loss to Belal Muhammad, the American would have been in the title conversation.
