David “El Bandera Roja” Benavidez is an undefeated middleweight boxer who became the NABF junior light-heavyweight champion in 2015. Two years later, he defeated Ronald Gavril for the WBC super-middleweight belt. After losing the title due to a failed test, he reclaimed the title in 2019 after a dominant TKO of Anthony Dirrell in round 9 of the bout. Having been stripped of his title for a failed drug, he suffered the same fate again when he failed to make weight and could not defend his title against Roamer Alexis Angulo.
After going through 25 matches undefeated, pundits feel that Benavidez is finally going against a worthy opponent in the heavy-hitting Canadian, David Lemieux, who is billed to challenge seriously in the 12 round main event in his hometown at Gila River Arena, Phoenix, Arizona.
I want to be the best fighter. I have more experience, and I am getting stronger, getting faster. I have earned my shot. I have paid my dues. The champion has to fight the number one contender. I believe in myself. I believe my skills, I believe my hunger. And nobody can stop me.

Since making his professional debut, David "The Demolisher” Lemieux has picked up the WBC International middleweight and IBF middleweight titles. After a stellar amateur career, he was a 3-time Canadian champion. Lemieux is renowned for his heavy-hitting punches, which he has deployed to win many fights.
In 2018, he was hospitalized for dehydration, and his bout with Bahamian boxer Tureano Johnson was canceled. Lemieux blamed it on hitting the gym immediately after an earlier fight with Irish boxer Gary O’Sullivan. Lemieux blamed it on his working hard to earn the ultimate prize of a world title fight.
Lemieux lost his IBF belt to Gennadiy Golovkin, but since that defeat, he has gone 9-1. He is currently on a five-fight win streak.
