Darren Elkins
Indiana-born Darren Elkins has been fighting in the UFC since 2010, where he competed against many stand-out performers. With a record of 17-10 in the promotion, Elkins is known for his resilience and comeback victories. In 2017, he rallied back after being dominated in the previous two and a half rounds to stop Mirsad Bektić with punches and a hard kick. The fight, considered one of the greatest comebacks in the promotion’s history, is not an outlier as “Damages” regularly weathers early-round storms to win matches. His long tenure in the division means he has picked up awards like the most unanimous decision wins in the UFC featherweight division history.

Training’s been very good. I believe Darren Elkins is a game opponent, an OG in the game … he’s not someone I’m overlooking in any way, but at the same time, I think he’s a bit past his prime. It’s my job to go in there and put him into retirement.
T. J. Brown
T. J. Brown has struggled for consistency in the UFC since his 2020 debut loss to Jordan Griffin. The 2019 Dana White Contender Series alum is 3-3 in the promotion. He was submitted in his last fight in April. “Downtown” is, however, confident that he will defeat the veteran, Elkins, attributing his lack of consistency to his own unseriousness. T. J. Brown has earned bonuses in his last two fights: a Performance of the Night in his victory over Erik Silva last December and a Fight of the Night with Bill Algeo last April.

I think his (Elkins’) striking is tricky. He does many fundamental things right; he tries to establish the jab. He’s got a good overhand right, and he does a good job of mixing his takedowns and takedown entries back into his striking. My job is to go out there and push the pace on him, make it my fight, and that’s what I plan on doing. I really think this is going to be a good opportunity for me to put together a highlight reel. No disrespect.
