Sandhagen was a late replacement for Aljamin Sterling in his bout with Petr Yan for the Interim UFC Bantamweight Championship last October. ‘Sandman’ acquitted himself well in the unanimous decision loss earning the Fight of the Night award for his efforts. Before that fight, he controversially lost in a split decision to T.J. Dillashaw at UFC on ESPN 24. The 30-year-old made his UFC debut against Austin Arnett in 2018. His second-round TKO win in that bout set off a six-match streak for the American that saw him climb up the 135-pound rankings.
