China Mobile has signed on ZTE as a partner to its Open NFV Test Lab, while subsidiary Shanghai Mobile has conducted another demonstration of a new TD-LTE-Advanced innovation.
ZTE has revealed it has been selected as one of the first group of partners for the test lab, which is being run by China Mobile Research Institute.
China Mobile is inviting ecosystem partners including integration, IT software and equipment vendors to collaborate in testing open NFV technologies.
“ZTE is delighted to participate in the China Mobile Open NFV Test Lab, which will make a major contribution to the global adoption of SDN and NFV technologies,” ZTE vice president Lv Abin said.
“ZTE is committed to innovations in SDN and NFV solutions and values opportunities to deepen our collaboration with other leading developers and providers of the technologies.” Abin said SDN and NFV are core areas of focus for the vendor.
China Mobile unit Shanghai Mobile has meanwhile collaborated with Nokia to conduct the first demonstration of intraband TD-LTE-Advanced small cell carrier aggregation over a commercial network.
The companies achieved peak data rates of 220Mbps by aggregating 2 x 20-MHz carriers. The rail was conducted at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
The demonstration took place days after China Mobile and Nokia demonstrated inter-band TD-LTE carrier aggregation incorporating underused 3.5-GHz spectrum at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015.
